NO PLANET B-EAUTY
NO PLANET Beauty - A photographic wake up call.
Beauty has always been a powerful word, but have we truly honored its meaning?
In recent years, the beauty industry has become one of the most profitable sectors globally, often at the cost of creating unattainable standards and othering those who don’t fit the mold. This Westernized idea of beauty has disconnected us from ourselves, each other, and especially nature, leading us to overlook the true essence of beauty found in our planet Earth.
No Planet B-eauty is a creative response to this crisis, challenging conventional beauty standards and highlighting the environmental impact we’ve created through our choices. The project visually addresses natural and human-made disasters—Melting, Drought, Storm, Fire, Plastic, Oil—and the ensuing chaos and confusion (Anarchy) that affect our world and our identities.
This ambitious project, executed over 1.5 years during a global pandemic, was brought to life with a dedicated and passionate team committed to sustainability. All makeup looks were created using vegan and cruelty-free products (except latex paint for the "Oil" segment), sustainable and upcycled fashion was prioritized, and any unavoidable emissions were offset by planting trees. A diverse and inclusive cast brought each environmental theme to life with authenticity, power, and beauty—unretouched and raw.
No Planet B-eauty emphasizes the urgent need for change—both within the beauty industry and our broader society. It highlights the interconnectedness of climate justice, the importance of inclusivity, and the need to redefine beauty as imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete—just like nature itself.
This project calls for collective action, reminding us that small steps matter. We must listen, learn, and uplift marginalized communities disproportionately affected by climate injustice. By reconnecting with nature and embracing true, raw beauty, we can combat the climate crisis, redefine our standards, and create meaningful change—together.
Because true beauty is listening, learning, forgiving, uplifting, and embracing every living being on this planet.
Alongside the still images, a dramatic film was created to deepen the emotional impact. The moving imagery captures the intimacy, urgency, and profound beauty found within each topic. The film powerfully juxtaposes the awe-inspiring visuals against the devastating truths about climate change, stirring viewers to confront our collective responsibility.
All profits from this book were donated to the Centre of Sustainability in the Philippines, a remarkable charity dedicated to protecting the country’s last remaining rainforests and empowering local communities.
