INTERFERENCE

Who are we, beyond the noise?

Interference explores the tension between who we are and who we are told to be—a world where consumerism dictates identity, excess is celebrated, and we are constantly pushed to want more. But what happens when we strip away those layers? When we challenge the systems that tell us what to desire? When we return to our essence?

This editorial is a visual confrontation of capitalism’s influence on self-expression, questioning the interference of consumer culture in shaping who we are. It is about breaking free, reclaiming identity, and embracing fashion in a responsible and sustainable way.

As the story unfolds, the model sheds the layers of expectation, mirroring the idea that true freedom comes when we let go of external pressures and reconnect with who we were meant to be.

The visual narrative unfolds in three distinct phases, symbolizing the process of shedding expectations and rediscovering self:

Restriction & Excess – The story opens with confinement. The model wears a plastic dress resembling the shape of a barbie, her movements restricted. In a dark cave setting, her styling feels heavy & caged. Two opulent shot follow, where she is adorned with layered accessories and opulence, reflecting the overwhelming weight of consumerism.

Release & Transformation – The imagery begins to soften. Hair gets wetter, as if freshly washed—free of external influence. Layers start to fall. Silhouettes become looser, lighter, more natural.

Reconnection & Liberation – The transformation is complete. The model melts into nature, her clothing barely draping her body, until she disappears into the sand. No longer shaped by expectation—only by her own being.

The entire shoot was minimally retouched, with a subtle shift in post-production: the first images undergo more touch-ups, while the final images remain completely unretouched, reinforcing the story’s message.

Interference is not just about finding beauty in simplicity—it’s about unlearning, deconstructing, and stepping into the freedom of self. Because when we strip away who we’re told to be, we finally become who we were meant to be.

Alongside the stills, the fashion film expands on this narrative, shifting from an exploration of self to a broader reflection on consumerism and its impact. The film begins with a definition of consumerism before visually capturing the model’s journey of shedding layers. The final frames reveal staggering statistics on fashion’s overproduction and the environmental cost of excess, concluding with a call to action—reminding us that our everyday choices hold the power to reshape the world.
